Frequently Asked QuestionsA: In reality – all season long! Although our lodge season is typically May 22 – October 1, one of the truly wonderful attributes about the Canadian north, is that the fishing is actually fabulous year-round. Your Legend begins only in determining exactly where and how to best excel in catching your full limit each day!
Walleye fishing, for example, is exciting from when the lodge opens, right through to mid-September. As well, Kississing Lake is renowned for its monster Pike, which can be found in abundance in low-lying weed beds through mid-season and in somewhat deeper waters in late Spring and early Fall. Our marquee offering in all seasons!
For those who enjoy the thrill of angling for “Lakers” (Lake Trout), they can typically be found in shallow waters until mid-June and can be caught on spinning gear casting, pretty much like fishing for Pike!
We suggest similar techniques beyond the 15th of September, by which time Lake Trout are typically spawning. A beautiful looking fish, Lakers can best be found in deeper waters (70 – 80 ft.) through the warm summer months of July and August.
A: On the Main lodge at Kississing we have 8 cabins, allowing two to eight people each. The cabins have modern washroom facilities and we, of course, provide daily housekeeping to make sure you have everything you need.
Q: At the Lodge, can we fish in the evening?A: Definitely! Make arrangements at the office and we will organize it for you with your guide. He will take you fishing somewhere close to the lodge after dinner. There are some really good spots for Lake Trout close to our island and most Lake Trout trophies have been caught in the evenings. Evening fishing costs are $50/per boat.
A: We recommend everyone to have a passport. The following summarizes information available on the Department of Homeland Security’s website.
All U.S. citizens including children must present a passport or secure travel document when entering the United States by air.
U.S. citizens ages 19 and older must present documentation that proves both identity and citizenship. Identification documents must include a photo, name and date of birth. View the complete list of acceptable documents at CBP.gov for land travel and sea travel.
Children ages 18 and under will only be required to present proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate.
U.S. citizens can also apply for a U.S. Passport Card, which facilitates entry and expedites document processing at U.S. land and sea ports-of-entry when arriving from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda. The card may not be used to travel by air. Otherwise, it carries the rights and privileges of the U.S. passport book and is adjudicated to the exact same standards.
